Sound engineering

“A sound expert is the
secret weapon.”

Many video producers are so focused on visuals, they forget about the most important aspect of a story: the sound. We have over 20 years experience as sound engineers for clients across Canada.

Three Inc.

Three is the Magic Number (yes it is)

When launching their new brand identity, Three Inc. was looking to add custom music to their new reel in a One of a Kind way. OOAK held studio sessions for acoustic drums, vocals, bass guitar, and percussion. Because everything was recorded directly in our private studio, we were able to quickly adjust each detail to reflect the action on screen as Three Inc. takes us through their favourite client work.

A reel is a very personal project for any agency or content creator. It directly reflects their client relationships, and how they wish to communicate their brand promise to the world. We are proud to have put our stamp on Three’s launch.

Ronald McDonald House

Creating content to help keep families close.

“Show your Stripes” is the rally cry for Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario, an organization that keeps families close when facing crisis. We wanted to give RMH something special to underscore this story of a young girl who is released from hospital, and is surprised by unexpected support. We enlisted the help of “The Universe Featuring Ray”, local London, Ontario performer. Our sound engineer co-wrote an original song and integrated the song and performer into the film. We still get chills thinking about that group of real RMH staff, first responders, and families singing their hearts out with title sponsors, White Oaks Mall.

 The Taylor Project

Honouring the brave with subtle details.

The Tailer Project is touching story about a scheme to help Tailors (and their families) escape concentration camps in Germany and come to Canada. “If you could hold a needle, you could become a Tailor and escape to freedom.”
Set to screen in front of large audiences (including Canada’s Prime Minister) for Holocaust Remembrance Day, the producers of The Taylor Project needed to ensure that every detail was just right. They trusted OOAK to clean and mix the audio for this production, which included a mix of interview, sound design, underscore, and even an on-screen violin performance turned backing track.

Catalysta

festival flyer, 2 minutes to midnight, an extravaganza

Uniting voices from across the globe.

“Catalysta is a New York City-based multimedia series that explores how the world works. The Catalysta TV series is orbited by five interrelated programs that includes podcasts, videos and a wiki.

OOAK Productions has been an audio production godsend by taking the lead of a team of eight audio editors for Catalysta’s premier podcast, 2 minutes to midnight – an extravaganza.”

The creative requirements of the series would be enough to send many sound engineers running for the hills. Audio was received from cell phones, laptops, and some professional studios. Participants spanned the globe and sound environments ranged from the ideal to chaotic. OOAK Productions unified the diverse sound sources, and even provided creative input to the assembly of the programs.

OOAK edited and oversaw interviews with world-renowned guests including The Nation journalist John Nichols, media scholar Robert McChesney, urbanist Miguel Robles-Duran and Noam Chomsky.

OOAK has been a stellar partner in bringing Catalysta to life.
