The most overlooked element in making your brand truly one of a kind.

THE SOUND MADE MY MOUTH WATER...

In our world of sound and video production, it's commonly thought that we appeal to two senses: sight, and sound. Nothing could be further from the truth.

With the right expertise, passion, and strategy, we can use sight and sound to impact taste, smell, and touch — we can create completely immersive experiences that tease all our senses. That is how we approach every project at OOAK. If we are shooting early morning over Lake Erie, we want people to feel the sunrise on their cheeks, or recall the scent of fresh air on an early summer morning. If shooting food, for example, with Kelseys, we use the sound of sizzling fajitas to make you feel like you can taste the first bite. If shooting in a wood-shop, we want to evoke the smells and feel of fresh-cut wood. If shooting for a beer brand, we want people to hear the sounds of the perfect beer pour as a trigger to excite their sense of taste. The pursuit of the perfect sound strategy is something we rely on to give our clients ownable and authentic visual communications, and if done correctly, we can use two senses to excite all five, and we feel sound is the most overlooked element in making your brand one-of-a-kind.

Here are some examples of how we've used sound to tease more than hearing.

WHAT DOES CHEAP MEAN?

In the early 2000s, we started to see stock music solutions become more mainstream. After 2010, there was a bit of an explosion of stock music sites as the internet and social media grew at a rapid rate. Right now, in the video production industry, stock music dominates the scene. If we know how important the sense of sound is, and how it can help appeal to all other senses, why do we defer to stock music so fast?

Excuse us for being bold, but it's because most production companies can't produce custom music. They don't have the expertise. If a production company wants to use custom music, they are likely forced to outsource to a music studio or sound engineer, and the costs drastically increase. Most defer to stock music due to budget issues and experience limitations. Sure, there will be lots of situations where stock music is used, but stock music can be edited, mixed, layered, and combined with other music elements to shift with the story, rather than the story being forced into the parameters of an a-la-carte track. Music can, and should be used, to take your brand's authenticity to the next-level.

Whether it's sonic branding, instrumental music, or a fully produced song with custom lyrics, we are able to use our sound engineering expertise, and artist connection, to make your communications truly one of a kind.

Here are some examples of how we've used custom music to heighten production projects, and not at a price that broke anyone's bank.

Oh, we haven't even covered our passion and experience in music production for respected Canadian artists like this work for Jose Contreras and up and comers like The Universe Featuring Ray. We’ve been working with Canadian music artists for 15 years, it’s sort of a passion for us, ok, well maybe more like an obsession.
